Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is the foundation’s highest decision-making organ. Its duties are outlined in the statutes and its methods are regulated by the procedural rules. The Board of Trustees consists of some 60 to 70 honorary members from the ecclesiastical, cultural, public and economic spheres. It is chaired by the Archbishop of Vienna, currently Cardinal Dr. Christoph SCHÖNBORN, who appoints its members for the duration of five years.

Further Information

The Board of Trustees’ main duties according to §7 of the statutes are:

- Making decisions on the procedural rules of the foundation, changes to the statutes, and on the dissolution of the foundation or individual sections.
- The election, approval and appointment of the board.
- Determining the annual budget, approval of the Board of Directors’ annual report and annual report on the balance of accounts.
- Securing anticipatory financing for the foundation.
- Deciding on proposals of the Archbishop of Vienna for the conferment of the title of Protector or Honorary Member of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation PRO ORIENTE.
- Deciding on proposals of the Board of Directors for the appointment or dismissal of consultants by the archbishop of Vienna.

The Board of Trustees meets once a year.
