Organs of the Graz Section

Graz Committee

The committee is comprised of the Bishop of the Diocese of Graz-Seckau, the chairperson and the executive secretary of the Graz Section, as well as some 50 persons from the ecclesiastical, public, cultural, and commercial spheres. All are appointed for a period of 5 years by the bishop.
The committee meets once a year and discusses how PRO ORIENTE’s aims and the section’s special tasks can be fulfilled within the Diocese of Graz-Seckau or from the city of Graz. It determines the annual budget and receives reports from the working committee and financial committee.
The committee is chaired by the Bishop of the Diocese of Graz-Seckau (until 2001 Bishop Dr. Johann WEBER, until 2015 Bishop Dr. Egon KAPELLARI), at present Bishop Dr. Wilhelm KRAUTWASCHL, or by his representative.

The Graz Working Committee


The working committee is comprised of the section’s chairperson, executive secretary and chairperson of the financial committee, and by up to twelve more persons appointed for five years by the Bishop of the Diocese of Graz-Seckau. Among the latter are the Director of the Institute of Ecumenical Theology and Patristics of the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Graz, the President of the diocese’s Catholic Action, one representative each from the Interconfessional Working Group of the Ecumenenical Movement in Styria, the Catholic Educational Institute, the Catholic Educational House Mariatrost, the Seminary and the Catholic Campus Ministry. The working committee plans and holds ecumenical events according to the foundation’s annual programme and the suggestions of the committee, and prepares the annual report.
The current head of the working committee is Hofrat Dr. Peter PIFFL-PERCEVIC.

The Graz Financial Committee

The financial committee is comprised of the section’s chairperson and 3-5 other members appointed by the Bishop of the Diocese of Graz-Seckau for the period of five years. The chairperson of the foundation’s financial committee is automatically a member of the section’s financial committee. The financial committee is tasked with raising funds to finance the foundation’s activities, preparing the annual budget and accounts, and with advising the working committee on financial matters. The financial committee has been headed by: Dr. Rudolf PIEBER, KR Adolf HÖLLER, Dr. Gottfried MOIK and Mag. Stefan TSCHIKOF.
