Tawadros II., Papst von Alexandrien, Patriarch des Pope Tawadros II. was born on Nov. 4th, 1952, in Mansoura. He studied pharmacy in Alexandria and later became director of the National Pharmaceutical Factory Damanhour. In 1986 he entered Anba Bishoy Monastery in Wadi Natrun, where he received the Monastic Consecration in 1988. In 1989 he was ordained as a priest. On June 15th, 1997 Tawadros received the Episcopal Ordination by Pope Shenouda III. and became Auxiliary Bishop for Damanhour-El Beheira. On Nov. 4th, 2012, by lot he became successor of Pope Shenouda III., who had passed away on March 17th of that year. He was solemnly enthroned as Tawadros II. on Nov. 18th, 2012, in St.-Mark's Cathedral, Cairo, which besides St.-Mark's Cathedral in Alexandria is the Cathedral Church and See of the Coptic Pope.
